Abram (later changed to Abraham) was the son of Terach, a merchant in the city of Ur in Babylonia in 1800 BCE. Abraham is believed to be the father of Judaism. Judaism is a monotheistic religion, and is based on the belief of one god. The roughly important text, the Torah, teaches Jews their way of life. The main teachings and rules of the Torah are the Ten Commandments in which every Jew is expected to live by. These commandments read:
1. I am the Lord your God
2. grounds shall not recognize the gods of others in My presence

One other core belief of Judaism is that there is a Messiah (a person from god) that will unite the world
and deal peace to humanity. In return the Jews would acknowledge God, and obey his laws. Judaism in addition
believes that their actions will either be punished or rewarded by Gods judgment after death.
