Basically, academic freedom refers to universities institutional autonomy from outside influences, primarily political ones, to ensure an unhampered search for the truth. A famous historian, whos an expert on Qing dynasty, Professor Yan Chongnian, was slapped in his face twice when he was promoting his new book in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. At the same time, another man tried to bar away from the crowd and screamed at him continuously, Traitor! You deserve it! The misuse was haunting in the hall.
