Dear congress soldiery,

Today on August 7th 1964 my fellow colleagues in recounting have made a terrible decision to want yes for the Gulf of Tonkin resolution. The Gulf of Tonkin resolution is a resolution that states the coitus approves and supports the determination of the President, as Com humanityder in Chief, to take tout ensemble necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the joined States and to prevent further aggression. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that was passed, goes against our countrys system of checks and balances, is scarce unnecessary and it undermines the constitution.

Our countrys government was founded under the idea that one man would never have supreme dictator-like role. There would be a system of checks and balances to make sure that decisions were made fairly and for the pricy of the country. What would happen if the president made a clearly unjustified decision? There would be no way to draw a sporting it. This resolution is giving one man more power than he deserves, people make mistakes and bad decisions thats why decisions essential be passed by congress so one man cant just make an irrational decision.



If this resolution merely confirm its approval of the Presidents declared policy and the action to respond to attacks on our fleets when in international waters; as he has responded that would be one thing, I would gladly approve such a resolution, as I approve of his action. But this resolution right away before us goes far beyond that. It not only endorses all our government has done to date in sec east Asia, but also gives the president a blank check, not merely to do whatever he likes in south Vietnam, but to quote the text of the resolution
